Things may look different and may not make sense if you are reading in a reader. I'm trying to set up a system for customers to see what I have in my files. Thanks!
This one has to be my favorite! A customer of mine wanted a Rudolph shirt similar to one I made for Jonah at the Craft Fair, but she wanted it gussied up a bit for her grandaughter. I added a little hairbow to the reindeer and a double ribbon ruffle. Instantly girl-ified! Look at how adorable it turned out!
The customer requested denim fabric. I had been saving some jeans that were too small or had torn in unflattering places (back pocket area) for another project, so I cut a section from the pant leg and the button and made this....I love the way it turned out! It just might become a regular item in the shop...if I can gather up enough jeans from everyone.
The Sunday Diaper Bag is a small diaper bag big enough to hold a few diapers and wipes and a bottle...basically all you would need for church on Sunday. It's a great little bag for a quick trip when you don't want to lug around a diaper bag full of all of those "just in case" things.
Here's a monogrammed Pillowcase Dress I made for our sweet friend Sydney. Pillowcase Dresses are wonderful because they can be worn as a dress and as the girl grows they can be worn with shorts or pants when they get too short. You can definitely get a lot of wear out of a Pillowcase Dress!
Her mom wanted something to put in her keepsake box for her 1st Birthday. She wanted a bib, but I thought she needed more than just a bib. She loved it!
Look at how crisp that monogram looks against the black towel! I will admit, I thought about going and getting black towels for my half bath after this...and now that I'm posting the pictures, I still think I might!
I was having some major camera issues this day! A repeat customer ordered some burp cloths for a little girl named Autumn. I chose a stacked name in curlz font. The colors are pink and green...not that you can really tell with the terrible lighting!
Since I knew it was for a first grade teacher, I knew Humpty Dumpty would be a hit. For the other burp cloth I did a stacked name and used train fabric...All Boy!

This coffee cozy is lined to protect your hands from the warm cup. Designer fabric has been chosen to give your coffee a one-of-a-kind look so no one will pick up your coffee by mistake! An elastic band and button make this totally adjustable for any size cup. It is compact enough to stick in your purse, glove box, or desk drawer to use when needed. Coffee cozies make great gifts! Pair it with a gift card or a package of fresh-ground coffee for any occasion! Secret pals, teachers, coworkers, or for your own little “happy” present…the possibilities are endless!

All coffee cozies are made in a smoke-free, pet-free home. Fabric placement may vary a bit as I tend to make several cozies at a time from the same fabric. Occasionally, I will place a coordinating fabric on the inside if I am running low on the outside fabric. I take great care in choosing buttons that match the fabric, but they may vary a bit from the picture depending on what I found in my button jar at the time.

Want to make it extra special? Add a monogram for an extra $3. Please convo me first and I will set up a custom listing just for you.

You can be afraid of the dark, your shadow, change, and the truth. Fear can stop you in your tracks and keep you from moving. Spiders, snakes, heights, and enclosed spaces can turn even the toughest of men into a hyperventilating mess. And here I am...caught in the middle of fear and my sweaty palms.

I have a confession to make...I have a fear of rejection...and because I'm afraid of rejection I've been afraid to tell you that I've set up an Etsy shop. So I've been filled with the rumbly-tumbly feeling in my stomach that I get when I'm nervous because I needed to tell you so that...

a) You can check out my shop and buy something
b) You can check out my shop and tell me what you think

Only I'm not sure I want you to know about my shop and tell me what you think...because then the fear enters again and I turn into an immature middle-school girl, hoping that someone picks me for their team and I'm not the last one left.

So go take a look at my Etsy shop...I'll be sitting with the covers pulled over my head until you return....

http://www.stitchesbysara.etsy.com/

Note: Please check back often...it takes a while to take pictures of things, write descriptions and post them. I've been hard at work the past few days on some new things, but I wanted to go ahead and let you know about the shop.Sarahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02967975089265599425noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3838709694577491639.post-88763768853098977142009-07-12T00:37:00.004-04:002009-07-12T01:03:16.680-04:00Why didn't I think of that?!?!One of the girls that babysits Jonah on ocassion got married today. She asked if I would monogram her garter with her initials. I immediately said, "Why didn't I think of that?!?!" It was a little tricky since I had to stretch it and pray that it didn't move even though I had placed it on sticky stabilizer to hold it in place. It stitched up quickly and I LOVE it! Take a peek at the end results...

I was honored to help Amy with her "something blue". I think it was a unique idea and wish I had thought about it when I got married. I started really fired up and then for whatever reason I slowed down and took a break.....months later I still hadn't finished it and haven't really been able to get my crafty mojo on because it's been sitting there staring at me...waiting on me to finish it. You crafty types know the feeling? I had worked on it one day when I was sick and my stitching was REALLY crooked! This bothered me immensely (perfectionist) and I just couldn't touch it. Then it hit me that if I added some decorative stitching that it would cover up the crooked lines and add a little character. So, I decided that today was the day.... No matter what, I was determined to finish it! And guess what.....I finished!I love it now!
This is my first "official" quilt. A couple of the new skills that I feel learned and confident with now are:
"Squaring up" quilt blocks
Making pinwheel quilt blocks.
Making my own binding
Attaching binding
Want to learn some new crafty skills? You Can Make This has instructions and patterns for all sorts of things! I've always wanted to learn how to quilt the correct way. (I made a small one with my first kindergarten class, but really just kinda made it up!) So when I found out that Kim from You Can Make This was hosting a quilt-a-long on their blog I decided to jump right in. Most people in the group are using pieces from their stash. I had bought a few fat quarters a while back with other projects in mind, but decided I really wanted my quilt to include this fabric...besides I can always replace it! I love the way this is starting to shape up! I can't wait to see what it looks likewhen it is finished! By the way, if there is anyone out there that wants to join in the fun it's not too late...you'll just have to play a little catch-up. I made and embroidered an apron for a friend's daughter that was getting an easy-bake cupcake maker, made and embroidered a tag blanket for a friend at church, monogrammed 3 sweatshirts for someone's grandparents, and monogrammed 2 sets of sheets for a neighbor. They turned out beautiful! From coming up with a logo (still need someone to help make the picture in my head a reality) to researching the best way to take payments, I've gotten a little overwhelmed today. If I could just sew and the money would appear in my bank account without making decisions, it would be a great thing...but come on that's not realistic is it? And don't even get me started about the fact that not one single present is ready to go under the tree at our house! One thing I'm very excited about is that there are people approaching me with projects and even a few orders just from posting some pics on Facebook. Success! Since my thoughts keep circling around in my head I thought I'd start a "to do" list...maybe if it's written down I might be able to sleep tonight (not likely).

To Do:
1. Find someone to help me with the logo I keep picturing in my head. (preferably for really cheap or even better...free! I would even be willing to make a trade.)
2. Order business cards, packaging materials
3. Figure out paypal buttons
4. Check into Etsy and setting up an online store through them
5. Make more samples and take pics (hooded towel, apron, chef hat, travel tumbler, nightlight)
6. Put together pictures of fabrics available (really I can do almost anything, but people like to have choices to help them out)
7. Stop thinking about business stuff and make Christmas stuff!

This is just the beginning...I'm sure I'll think of something else in the middle of the night!Sarahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02967975089265599425noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3838709694577491639.post-38460970342228216442008-12-06T18:39:00.000-05:002008-12-07T06:18:17.370-05:00Diving in head first...After months of friends telling me I need to start selling my crafty little creations, I'm finally taking the plunge...head first. Call me chicken, or maybe it's the fear of rejection, but I've held off since the beginning of the summer. I've always used the excuse of crafting just for peace of mind and creative expression, and the never-ending need for cute, original gifts. Nevertheless, here I am. As a new mom, I had an overwhelming and burning desire to stay home with my son, so I took a leave from my "paycheck" job as a teacher and followed my heart....the funny thing about following your heart are those pesky little things called bills. Now don't get me wrong, we are fine financially and my wonderfully supportive hubby has said the words "whatever it takes to keep you home", but I would still like to contribute to my household budget as much as possible. And besides, I'm already up there in my little craft heaven...wouldn't it be nice to make a little on the side to fund my crafting efforts? So here I am. I really don't have any idea of where the road will go, but I'm finally ready to get the word out and see where we end up. So I'm inviting you to join me on my journey...who knows, you might just find something you want to order.Sarahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02967975089265599425noreply@blogger.com1
